Olympedia – Thomas Zander

Thomas Zander was a German Greco-Roman wrestler participating in three Olympic Games from 1992-2000. At Atlanta in 1996 he won the silver medal in the middleweight division, and in 2000, he moved up to light-heavyweight but placed only 12th. His greatest moment came in 1994 when he won the gold medal at the World Championships. He added a silver in 1999 and two bronzes in 1995 and 1997.

Zander also was a four-time European Champion (1990, 1992-94), and also won additional silver and bronze medals. He also won seven national titles (1990, 1992-94, 1996-98). By profession, he became a policeman.
