CYLINDER PHONOGRAPHS
Invented by Thomas A. Edison in 1877, the collection features cylinder phonographs from Edison, Graphophone, and other makers.
RADIOS
Guglielmo Marconi first demonstrated a practical radio receiver in 1895. From the mid 1920s radio become a major player in home entertainment. Australian radio from this period onwards, wood or bakelite, are highly covered for their design, especially those of the art deco period. The collection features a number of the country’s leading brands, AWA and Astor Among others.
DISC GRAMOPHONES
Emile Berliner’s Gramophone was developed in 1894, The Gramophone Company later became known as HMV and Victor. The collection features disc gramophones from both these major contributors as well as other makers.
