HA Rothholz designer
H A Rothholz 1919 - 2000
HA Rothholz came to Britain in 1933 and studied at the Reimann School.
His career in design was interrupted, during WW2, by his internment as an enemy alien.
Despite these difficulties, Rothholz returned to Britain and established himself a poster designer
and commercial artist.
Rothholz was a part of a generation of designers who transformed the visual culture of
advertising and communication in Britain after WW2. He was a friend and
colleague of Abram Games, Tom Eckersley and George Him.
Amongst his clients were the GPO (General Post Office) and RoSPA (Royal Society for the
Prevention of Accidents).
He also worked for Lyons Corner House, producing graphics as well as an 80' long cast mural for the Marble Arch Restaurant.
Also designing for Windsor & Newton, El Al, Ealing Films, Welcome Foundation
.
The posters shown below range in date from the mid 1940's to early 1950's and are design classics
