Critics Consensus

A crueler, darker, raunchier carbon copy of the first installment, The Hangover Part II lacks the element of surprise -- and most of the joy -- that helped make the original a hit.

Julie and Brandy Autostraddle It wasn't that bad and we laughed a lot. Aug 31, 2021 Full Review Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express If you want to see everything you saw in Hangover, only transplanted to Bangkok, with a drug-peddling simian and a missing human finger, then Hangover 2 is the movie for you. Rated: 2/5 Apr 2, 2019 Full Review Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online The wickedly entertaining characters and actors each leave audiences in stitches as they go through the motions of an equally entertaining--albeit redone--plot that will thrill die-hard fans of the original. Rated: B+ Sep 8, 2017 Full Review David Griffiths Subculture Entertainment If you want more laughs than you shouldn’t miss The Hangover Part II, just don’t expect anything remarkably different this time around… in fact to be safe just check your brain in at the Candy Bar on your way in. Rated: 3/5 Oct 29, 2024 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson Even if The Hangover Part II is, in essence, a predictable mirror image of the first film, just in a new setting, doesn't make it any less funny or entertainingly over-the-top. Rated: 3/5 Oct 16, 2024 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The shock-based laughs were forgivable with The Hangover given the novelty of the concept, but there’s no pardoning the do-over feel of this sequel. Rated: 2/4 Jun 7, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Jimmy M Really fun and dumb. Similar to the first one which isnt necessarily a bad thing. Been years but I remember liking it slightly more then the original preferring the setting mostly but they're both close Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/25 Full Review Luke W It was underrated and fun to watch Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/05/24 Full Review Darío C Definitely worse than the first one. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/18/24 Full Review ERIK Samuel R O primeiro é melhor! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/05/24 Full Review Frank M Quite simply the worst movie I’ve ever seen. If I could give no stars I would. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/30/24 Full Review Liam W Definitely worth a watch and has some good laughs. I preferred the first one. Synopsis Two years after the disastrous events in Las Vegas, it is now Stu's (Ed Helms) turn to walk down the aisle. Since his bride is from Thailand, Stu decides to hold the wedding there. Desperately hoping to avoid the mayhem of Doug's (Justin Bartha) bachelor party, Stu chooses what he thinks will be a safe option: an alcohol-free, prewedding brunch. But this being Thailand, and with Phil (Bradley Cooper) and Alan (Zach Galifianakis) again in attendance, anything can happen.
