Tom Jones (born 7th June 1940) is a Welsh singer who covers all genres of popular music – pop, R&B, dance, country, rock, soul, gospel, and more and has sold over 100 million records worldwide.
Born and bred in South Wales, Jones began his career as the front man for a beat group called Tommy Scott and the Senators in the mid 60s, where he first attracted attention before breaking away to pursue his solo career. His music caught on very quickly, and across his career he’s achieved a huge 36 top 40 hits in the UK, and 19 in the USA. Known for his most famous songs Sex Bomb, She’s a Lady, What’s New Pussycat, and Green, It’s Not Unusual, Jones has an incredible back catalogue of smash hits, and is sure to keep everyone entertained.
Back in 1999, he was awarded an OBE, later followed by a knighthood in 2006 for his services to the music industry. As well as these honours, Jones has won a Grammy, two Brit Awards, and an MTV Video Music Award over the years, and also had his own TV show, This Is Tom Jones, back in the early 70s. Historically, Tom Jones played huge arena venues to incredibly large crowds of fans, and to this day he still maintains an incredible following.
Nowadays you’ll find him coaching and judging on the UK version of The Voice, or playing rare but incredible sets usually at prestigious events, so keep an eye out for tickets!
