Third-tier English soccer club Bolton Wanderers have announced discount retailer Home Bargains as their shirt sponsor for the rest of the League One season.

The Liverpool-based firm’s logo adorned the front of the team’s playing shirts for the first time on 7th October during their 0-0 draw at home to Blackpool.

“Based in the North West and having an approach that is centred on the community, Home Bargains were a natural fit to be our official shirt sponsor,” said Bolton chief executive Emma Beaugeard. “We are excited by this partnership and are looking forward to working closely with them over the course of this season.”

Bolton were last sponsored by betting company Betfred, but started the 2019/20 campaign without a shirt sponsor due to the uncertainty surrounding their future.

However, Bolton’s survival was secured at the end of August when Football Ventures Limited completed its protracted takeover of the team with the club facing the threat of liquidation, paving the way for a deal to be done with Home Bargains.

Becki Colton, events and community engagement manager at Home Bargains, added: “We’ve seen how passionate our customers in the area are about Bolton Wanderers and are delighted to be able to support the club. We know they’ve have had a tough time, but with our new sponsorship we hope to usher in a new era of success for the sleeping giant.”

Bolton are bottom of League One having started the season with a 12-point deduction. They host Rochdale in their next fixture on 19th October.
