Package Variant for ROTF Dead End

My guess is, since they also made a deluxe Dead End, they changed the scout version back into Detour. Only there were probably already alot of them made in Dead End packaging.

Probably in a while both American and European versions will have Detour on them..

If I had to guess... it probably has something to do with them changing the name to Detour so not to confuse kids when the Deluxe Dead End comes out. That would be my first reaction anyways...

However, a lot of what you've stated seems to suggest that this might be a European figure that somehow got shipped out in a set of US releases instead. Stranger things have happened. Though, I do find it interesting that his overseas release is being called Detour. Curious.

Finally, I doubt it's one of those, one in a million 'worth something someday' errors. There just seems to be too much suggesting it as a European packaged version of the figure.

Well, Detour makes sense based on the alt mode.

Detour was the rumoured name for Dead End when the scout was first seen, so I guess maybe it WAS going to be called Detour and Dead End was a late change?

And I suppose this is a misprint that somehow got out in the wide world. I'd hold onto it, keep it in it's packaging. Might be worth something after a while?

I doubt it's just "the European version", because why then would the back of the package still refer to the figure as Dead End? Definitely looks like prototype packaging to me.

Huh... so when I ripped open my Scout Dead End, was I throwing away a super rare potential collector's item that I could flip for $100 6 months from now?

I don't keep packaging so I guess it doesn't bother me like the figure variants do. (Like the Breakaway variant I just griped about in another thread.)

Because only the one labelled as Detour would be out of the ordinary.

IT's not a European figure, as the European releases have a different card back with out a bio and just a sentence about the character in different languages.

Well, since its just a scout figure and thus relatively cheap, it wouldn't hurt to pick one up and keep it MISB.

Who knows it might be worth something in the future as a unique collector's item. It may not be thousands of dollars, but you could still make a small profit out of it.

And even if its worth nothing, there's nothing to lose anyway.
If I come across one, I'll probably get it.

Are there a lot of collectors who salivate over packaging mistakes on minor characters? I'd wait until you see people saying "I want one!" before you get dollar signs in your eyes.

Take a look at the bottom of the insert in the sideshot. The one with "Scout" also bares the Hasbro and recycled product logos on the bottom, while the TFCC logo and barcode are rearranged on the package on the left, and there seems to be a European age appropriate label.

If he was indeed meant for Europe and ended up in the US, the name "Detour" would be very ironic.  

wow interesting. I'd agree that it might be a move to stop people confusing it with the deluxe toy but they should have seen this a mile off so why only now do they change the pack I dunno

I can almost guarantee there is a distribution center somewhere in which they separate the European items from the items destined to ship to the US. I think some one put the wrong stuff in the truck. People in Europe are probably experiencing check out issues when trying to buy.
