White Material (2010) - Financial Information
Synopsis
Maria is a White farmer who runs (with her husband, his father, and their son) a failing coffee plantation in an unnamed African country in the present day. Civil war has broken out and rebel soldiers, many of them child soldiers, are advancing on the area. Rebels on the radio advocate attacks on emblems of colonialism. Maria’s workers leave, but she refuses to abandon the plantation, and searches for men to finish harvesting of the coffee. As she and her family await the inevitable, the tensions in their personal relationships, and in their relations with the African community, become exposed. Maria puts the farm in even more danger when she looks after a wounded rebel officer known as “The Boxer.”

DVD and Blu-ray Releases for April 12th, 2011
April 11th, 2011
The quality of first-run releases coming out on Tuesday is pretty low, but on this week's list we have The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which came out last Friday, and The Deathly Hallows: Part I, which comes out this Friday. Besides those two releases, the only other potential big seller is The Incredibles on Blu-ray. I don't think that will top the sales, but it should do well on the Blu-ray sales chart and it is this week's Pick of the Week.

Harry Potter Tops Another Chart
November 23rd, 2010
The overall box office leader, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I, also led the way on the per theater chart, pulling in an average of $30,307 in more than 4000 theaters. Last week's winner, Tiny Furniture, was a distant second place, with $16,384 in one theater. Made in Dagenham opened with a disappointing average of $12,521 in three theaters. This should be enough to expand somewhat, but its chances of earning a significant measure of mainstream success took a hit over the weekend. White Material was right behind with an average of $11,538, also in three theaters.

Don't Be Heartless, See a Limited Release
November 19th, 2010
While there are not a lot of limited releases on this week's list, there are a few that are earning reviews that are good to great. This includes Made in Dagenham, which could be an Awards Season player, while White Material is also doing well enough to earn some measure of mainstream success. Or at least do better than the average Foreign Language film.
