The town was founded in 1882 as a railroad station stop. It is named after Hansford R. Hall, one of the founders. Among the early business ventures were sawmills and cotton gins, founded in the 1880s to process local lumber and cotton.
Halls is home to the Veterans' Museum on the grounds of the Dyersburg Army Air Base, which documents the history of the World War II Army Air Corps. It was the main base for the B-17 Flying Fortress bombers in the mid-1940s.

Mayor Eugene Pugh has served the Town of Halls as Mayor for over 22 years and having 50+ years altogether as Mayor & Alderman combined. He has been committed from the beginning to growing Halls and making it better for everyone. He serves on numerous boards throughout the State of TN.
He is a 4th generation Cotton, Soybean, and Corn Farme

He is a 4th generation Cotton, Soybean, and Corn Farmer. Married for 60 years to Mary Hellen, Father of 2 daughters; Leigh Douglas, Elizabeth (Paul) Lague, and one son Eugene (Katie) Pugh III. Grandfather of 4 granddaughters and 2 grandsons. Mr. Eugene enjoys going to the Mississippi State Football games with his family, going to Pickwick Lake with the Family and just enjoying life.

Married to Carolyn of 60 years, father of 4, David, Daniel, and Matthew. I love to spend my time volunteering to help others, I am apart of the Veteran's Museum, I over-see the upkeep of the Halls Community Center, I am on the Halls Library Board, and I am also a Lauderdale County Chamber/ECD Ambassador.
I am retired.

Married to Rob for 29 years, mother of 3 sons, Zach, Andrew, and Ben. I love to cook when I am not working.
I have been working with the Bank of Halls for 32 years.

I am retired from UPS Freight (26 years). I was a member of the All-Star Road Team and a driver trainer while maintaining an accident-free record.
