(This was a combination of the ships that had been in eastbound Convoys JW 56A and JW 56B (available at the external link below). The escorts of the 2 convoys were also combined to form the escort for RA 56.
The Panamanian Norlys was escort oiler as was the Norwegian Noreg.

Febr. 3-Febr. 5: Minesweepers Gleaner and Seagull.
Febr. 3-Febr. 11 (close escort): Destroyers Westcott and Whitehall, sloop Cygnet, corvettes Dianella, Oxlip, Poppy and Rhododendron, minesweepers Halcyon, Hussar and Speedwell (the last 3 until Febr. 10).
Destroyers until Febr. 7: Offa, Opportune, Savage, Venus and Vigilant.
Destroyers until Febr. 9: Inconstant, Mahratta, Meteor, Milne, Musketeer and Scourge, as well as Canadian Huron and Norwegian Stord.
Febr. 6-Febr. 9: Obedient, Swift and Verulam.
Western local: Destroyer Wrestler, corvettes Borage, Honeysuckle and Wallflower, minesweepers Cockatrice, Loyalty, Rattlesnake and Ready.
Febr. 5-Febr. 7: Bermuda, Berwick and Kent (cruiser cover).
