CONVOY SC 75
Departed Halifax on March 18-1942 and arrived Liverpool on Apr 3
(Arnold Hague's "The Allied Convoy System" says 27 ships).

Transcribed from original documents received from Tony Cooper, England (Advance Sailing Telegram) - His source: Public Records Office, Kew.
Station numbers and sequence of departure were received from Ted Agar, England - His source: A diary.
These stations are pendants flown on departure Halifax, and may have changed as the voyage progressed.
Names of escorts and cargoes for the tankers have been extracted from documents recived from Don Kindell, based on the late Arnold Hague's database - see his listing for SC 75 at
ships in all SC convoys. It'll be noticed that in some cases, he has given different station numbers than those provided in the diary and these have been added in parenthesis below.

Crossed out ships did not sail, underlined returned to port, except those that are linked, which will automatically be underlined.

2 ships were given the pendant number 81 in the diary; the British Empire Porpoise and the Panamanian Standard. A. Hague has the former in station 74, the latter in 81.

According to Arnold Hague, the Norwegian Bralanta, which had started out in Convoy HX 181, became a straggler from that convoy and joined up with Convoy SC 75 on March 26 - see Bralanta.

The diary also lists the British Northern Ranger (station 14), and the Canadian Sarnolite (24), Royalite (34), Imperoyal (44), and Talaralite (64) as going out with this convoy. They are not mentioned in the Advance Sailing Telegram. See * in Notes below.

Notes:
Commodore was in Dorelian, Vice Commodore in Gitano, Rear Commodore in Empire Planet.

The Rescue Vessel Rathlin (requisitioned on July 28-1941) was also in this convoy, sailing in station 54. She was on her 6th voyage as such, having started this voyage from Clyde on Febr. 20-1942 with the westbound Convoy ON 68 (until dispersal March 9), then returned from Halifax to Clyde with SC 75, March 18-Apr. 2. ("Convoy Rescue Ships 1940-1945", Arnold Hague).

The ships left Halifax in the following order (according to the diary):
The first to go out at 11:12 was the British Dorelian, followed at 11:20 by Empire Porpoise, and with a few minutes between each ship, Empire Planet, Ingerfire, Gitano, San Felix, Standard, Atheltemplar, Panos, Caduceus, Arthur W. Sewall, Christian Holm, Maritima, Fagersten, City of Joliet, West Gotomska, Berkel, Disa, Rathlin, Ingman, Mount Mycale, Laguna (listed as Seguna in the diary), Lido, Talaralite, Imperoyal, Royalite, Bjørkhaug, Sarnolite, Emmy, Henrik Ibsen (LCNY), Northern Ranger, Christine Marie (did not sail with convoy) and Zeus. The last ship to go out at 14:26 was the Yugoslavian Nikolina Matkovic (YTTE).

* Sarnolite, Royalite and Northern Ranger are also mentioned among the ships that went out with Convoy SC 71, and the 2 Canadian ships can also be found in Convoy SC 73. They probably went out for other reasons than to join these convoys. Sarnolite shows up again in connection with Convoy SC 79, which left Halifax on Apr. 11, and Talaralite is mentioned in SC 72 on Febr. 28. Again, note that these ships are not included in the Advance Sailing Telegrams for these convoys. The author of the diary, who saw them leave with the other ships destined for these convoys, probably just assumed that they too were intended for them.

The convoy arrived rendezvous on March 30.

A. Hague names the following escorts (extracted from this list of SC convoy escorts, received from D. Kindell; dates are European style, day/month/year):
