This collection consists of personal, professional and literary papers of John S. Kendall of New Orleans, La. Included are typed and handwritten correspondence to John Kendall, with a few letters to Mrs. Kendall, newspaper clippings and other printed items such as several issues of the poetry publication titled Far afield, and bound typescripts of John Kendall's scholarly and poetic writings. Correspondents represented in the collection include Louisiana State University Press, University of Alabama Press, Frederick Moore, Frederick F. Thomas, Lucy Gray Kendall, Harnett Kane, Paul E. Cox, Hale Boggs, Russell Long, and deLesseps S. Morrison. Included also is an envelope which is inscribed: "Crepe worn by J.S.
