Territorial Pissings 02:26 |
about
33 years after Kurt Cobain screamed “I’d better wait” on “Territorial Pissings”, Anamanaguchi revisits Nirvana’s beloved-and-overlooked song to see where things are now. Anamanaguchi brings the punk paranoia of Nevermind’s harshest moment into a whole new generation of digital violence. Hatsune Miku opens the track with her best Krist Novoselic impression, delivering the cynical lines about world peace. From there the band attacks the track with a loadout of blown out guitars, raw Nintendo soundchips, and pixelated screams. Anamanaguchi's primarily instrumental music has featured outside vocalists in the past, but this cover sees the band's own Peter Berkman step into the role of lead singer. Mixed by Dave Fridmann (MGMT, Magdalena Bay) at Tarbox Road Studios, Anamanaguchi reminds us that just because you’re paranoid, doesn't mean they’re not after you. (:
