On 7 November 2012 Academician Aleksei Nikolaevich Parshin of the Russian Academy of Sciences turned 70. A. N. Parshin was born in the city of Sverdlovsk. In 1959 he entered the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University, where already in his student years he showed his outstanding mathematical abilities.
