The results suggest that the Sabangau catchment contains one of the largest remaining contiguous populations of Bornean agile gibbon, and it is proposed that future density surveys of gibbons must include data from all forest subtypes where gibbons are found.

Evidence is presented from observation of spontaneous calling and from playback experiments that an uncommon type of call bout produced by the lar gibbon (Hylobates lar), the ooaa duet, is highly infectious, triggering other groups to respond in kind.
