James Dallaway, Antiquities of Bristow in the Middle Centuries; including the Topography by William Wyrcestre, and the Life of William Canynges (Bristol, Mirror office, 1834)
A volume comprised of three main elements.
- A description and discussion of Bristol's Common Seal (pp. 1-13), reprinted from Archaeologia, Vol. 21 (1827), pp. 79-87.
- An annotated transcription of William Worcester's Latin topographical description of Bristol in 1480 (pp. 15-166).
- A biographical study of the fifteenth-century Bristol merchant William Canynges II (pp. 179-212).
All three pieces were written / edited by the Bristol antiquary, the Rev James Dallaway.
Notes
In this copy of the volume, many of the illustrations (especially the coats-of-arms) have been hand coloured. This was presumably done by an owner, rather than the publisher.
