Lion of the Himalayas
Lion of the Himalayas is a 2022 short story written by Ammar Habib, published as part of the anthology novel Predator: Eyes of the Demon.
Plot[]
Abdallah Khan, an aged war veteran, had been tasked with tracking down an Asian black bear who his fellow Kashmiri villagers claimed to have killed three of their own in the forest. Armed with a Remington Model 700, a khanda sword, bear traps, and camouflages, Abdallah and his trained hunting dog Tipu headed into the forest in search of their prey.
Trivia[]
- Lion of the Himalayas shares a number of similarities with the 2008 novel Predator: Turnabout. Both stories feature main characters who were aged war veterans that preferred to live and work alone in the wilderness. While on the hunt for what each character believed to be an aggressive bear, they both encountered Predators.
- The story's main character Abdallah is, metaphorically, the titular "lion of the Himalayas"; A metaphor that references the phrase "You're the lion. This is his jungle." spoken by agent Keyes in the 1990 film Predator 2.
