Primary: She was successful in the primary on August 12, 2014, receiving 34.6 percent of the vote. She competed against Mark Gabriel Giancola, Brian C. Hagerty, Jason T. Hutchison, Glen A. Norton, Paul Scoggin and Daniel Cragg.
General: She defeated Paul Scoggin in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 60.9 percent of the vote.

Education
Sullivan received her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1985, and her J.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1995. She also studied political science at Johns Hopkins University on a graduate fellowship.[3]
Career
Prior to her election to the bench, Sullivan served as senior legal counsel to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. She spent most of her legal career in private practice, working in many different areas of the law. She is certified as an electronic discovery expert.[3]
