Claudia DePeyster is a judge on the New York City Criminal Court of New York County, New York. She was appointed to the court by Mayor Bill de Blasio in April 2015 and was sworn into office on April 27, 2015.[1] Her current term will expire in 2026.[2]

Education

DePeyster earned her undergraduate degree from SUNY at Buffalo. She received her J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Law.[3]

Career

DePeyster previously worked as a solo practitioner focusing on criminal and civil law and as an attorney for the Bureau of Investigations and Trials of the New York City Fire Department. Prior to her appointment to the New York City Criminal Court in 2015, she served for 11 years with the New York City Police Department as an assistant deputy commissioner of trials. [3]
