David J. Hale is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky. Prior to joining the court, he was a United States attorney for the Western District of Kentucky. On June 19, 2014, President Barack Obama nominated Hale to fill a vacancy on the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.[1] Hale was confirmed to the court on December 3, 2014, by a voice vote of the Senate.[2]
Education
Hale earned his B.A. from Vanderbilt University in 1989 and his J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1992.[1]

President Barack Obama nominated David J. Hale on June 19, 2014, to fill a vacancy on the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky. The vacancy was created when Charles Simpson took senior status on February 1, 2013. President Obama on the nomination:
“ | I am pleased to nominate these distinguished individuals to serve on the United States District Court bench. I am confident they will serve the American people with integrity and a steadfast commitment to justice.[1][4] | ” |
The American Bar Association rated Hale Unanimously Qualified for the position.[5]
The Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing for Hale on July 29, 2014.[6] The committee reported Hale to the full Senate on September 18, 2014, on a voice vote.[7] The United States Senate confirmed Hale on December 3, 2014, by a voice vote.[2]
