Don East (December 26, 1944 - October 22, 2012) was a Republican member of the North Carolina State Senate, representing District 30 from 2005 to his death in 2012.[1]
East was Commissioner of Surry County from 1984 to 1992. He previously served in the North Carolina State Senate from 1995 to 2000; he was a candidate for the District 30 seat in 2002.

On November 4, 2008, East won re-election to the 30th District in the North Carolina State Senate. East had no challenger.[4]

East received his High School Diploma in 1962. He then attended Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice at Forsyth Technical Community College in 1964.
East was a retired Police Officer and small farm owner.
East is survived by his wife Connie and one child.
