Multnomah County voter's pamphlet

Williams provided the following statement for the Multnomah County voter's pamphlet:

Why Emma?

Emma offers a fresh and enthusiastic outlook on the school board. As a mom she knows it’s the duty of every parent to ensure their children have the best education possible. Being a school board member allows Emma to be proactive in making sure her children, and all the children of Portland, get the quality education they deserve. Emma will work towards a more equitable and diverse school district that will meet the needs of the more than 47,000 children we serve.

There are many important issues coming up for the board – new boundary lines, contract negotiations, middle grades programming vs. K-8. Emma herself has been a part of a union and a public servant for 7 years. This background will allow her to be a thoughtful and engaging board member. She will be able to bring her experience creating and implementing policy, building public engagement and presenting to and working with public officials to the board. Being an active community member with a young family and working in the public sector, Emma brings the perfect balance of thoughtful community leader and experienced public servant to the school board.

Emma is also a volunteer with the Oregon Historical Society working in the elementary school Traveling Trunk program and as a judge for Oregon History Day. Emma’s love for Oregon is behind what drives her to want to make it the very best place she can for the next generation of Oregonians.[3]
