Campaign themes

2014

Cobb listed the following themes on his campaign website.[4]

  • Jobs, Jobs, Jobs: "If more of our small businesses are financially successful, more of our country’s citizens will secure better employment, and grow financially. We must lower taxes and reduce some of the regulation that smothers many of our citizens’ attempts to build businesses of their own. With less taxes and unnecessary regulations, South Jersey’s residents will have more opportunities to build their own American Dreams."
  • Family: "Every decision that is made in Washington, D.C. must be made with America’s families in mind. Our tax code should reflect how much we value the family. If anybody gets a tax break it should be the families of America who are raising the next generation. We should have incentives in the tax code to encourage marriage. Children, who are growing up single-parent families are much more likely to live in poverty."
  • Taking Care of our Seniors: "On snowy days, my parents expected that my brothers and I get up and shovel the snow off of our next-door neighbors’ walkway. These neighbors were Mr. and Mrs. Carlo, an elderly Italian couple. Incorporating simple efforts like these into our communities is one way that we can significantly improve this region. As a community, we should be taking care of the seniors in our neighborhoods and going to visit a senior citizens’ facility every couple of weeks."
  • The Healthcare Challenge: "The state of this nation’s healthcare is a very complicated subject with many serious unsolved problems, but there is a very simple solution. Every politician in Washington who is making decisions about the healthcare of the country should be forced to sign an oath that they and their families will use the same healthcare plan that they create for the rest of the country. If the leadership has to submit to the same healthcare plan, they will make sure that it’s well run and effective. I’m willing to commit to the oath, I suggest that we demand that the rest of the gang in Washington agree to the same."
