James Harry Michael, Jr. (1918-2005) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia.^[1]

Michael was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on April 9, 1980, to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629; he was confirmed by the Senate on September 29, 1980, and received commission the next day. He assumed senior status on October 31, 1995, and served in that capacity until his death on August 29, 2005.^[1] Michael was succeeded in this position by James Jones.
