Education


James Moseley is a former judge for the Texas Fifth District Court of Appeals. He was nominated to this position in 1996 and was re-elected to six-year terms in 2000, 2006, and 2012.[1] He was re-elected on November 6, 2012, for a term expiring on December 31, 2018.[2][3] Moseley retired before the end of his term in August 2014.[4]

Education

Moseley received both his undergraduate and J.D. degrees from Baylor University.[1]

Career

Moseley began his legal career in 1978, working as a general practitioner in Odessa. In 1983, President Ronald Reagan appointed him the regional director of the Federal Trade Commission's Dallas office. After four years, he joined the law firm of Locke Purnell Rain and Harrell. He was a partner of this firm for approximately ten years before he became an appellate judge in 1996.[1]

Moseley was re-elected to the Texas Fifth District Court of Appeals. He defeated judicial candidate Penny R. Phillips in the general election on November 6, 2012, with 52.6% of the vote.[5][3]
