James P. Rielly was a judge of the Eighth District of Iowa. Governor Robert Ray appointed him to this court in 1980. He retired in 2001 and took senior status, which he held until he died in 2011.[1][2]
Biography and Education
Rielly was born in Rock Valley, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He then earned his bachelor's degree from Westmar College in 1953 and his law degree from the University of Iowa in 1958. He had five children and had been a widower since 2006. He died on September 28, 2011.[1][2]
