Education

Jerry Deese Vinson Jr. is a judge of the South Carolina Court of Appeals. He assumed office on January 1, 2022. His current term ends on June 30, 2027.

Vinson, Jr. was a family court judge for the Twelfth Judicial Circuit in South Carolina.[1] He was elected to the court by the South Carolina General Assembly in 2004. Vinson was elected to the South Carolina Court of Appeals on February 3, 2021.[2]

Education

Vinson received his B.S. in biology from Francis Saint Marion College and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1985.[3]

Career

After graduating from law school, Vinson worked as a law clerk for John Waller, then a circuit court judge for the Twelfth Judicial Circuit. Afterward, he practiced law with the firm of Turner, Padget, Graham and Laney, P.A., and later, with his wife, formed their own firm, The Vinson Law Firm, P.A. His firm eventually merged into the firm of McDougall & Self, L.L.P., where he worked up until his election to the court in 2004.[3]
