John D. Early is a federal magistrate judge on the United States District Court for the Central District of California. He was first appointed to this court on February 22, 2017, and his current term on the court will expire on February 21, 2025.[1]
Education
Judge Early received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 1990 and his J.D. from the UCLA School of Law, Order of the Coif, in 1993.[1]
Career
From his court biography, "immediately before his appointment as a Magistrate Judge, Judge Early operated his own law firm representing clients in government investigations and complex civil litigation, including intellectual property, securities, and unfair competition disputes. Prior to founding his own firm, Judge Early served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California. Prior to his appointment as a federal prosecutor, Judge Early was a litigator with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in Orange County and White & Case in Los Angeles."[1]
