John R. McCarroll, Jr. was a circuit court judge for the Thirtieth Circuit Court in Tennessee. He began serving on the court in 1996 and was re-elected in 2006 without opposition.[1][2]

McCarroll left the bench in August 2014 when he did not seek re-election.[3]

Education

McCarroll received his undergraduate and J.D. degrees from Vanderbilt University in 1962 and 1965, respectively.[1]

Career

McCarroll began his career in 1965 as a private practice attorney with the law firm of Hardison, Robertson, Harkavy & Carroll. He worked there until 1974, when he became a judge of the Division One Circuit Court. In 1977, he left that position to join the firm of Burch, Porter, and Johnson. He then practiced with Hardison, Carroll, Cook & Cannon from 1980 to 1985, was a sole practitioner until 1988, and served as general counsel for Malonex Hyde, Inc. and AutoZone, Inc. until 1994. He joined the Thirtieth Circuit Court in 1996.[1]
