Johnny Ellis

Johnny Ellis (b. March 13, 1960) is a former Democratic member of the Alaska State Senate, representing District J from 1993 to 2017.

Ellis served as the Senate Minority Leader from 1998 to 2008, Senate Majority Leader from 2008 to 2012, then again as Minority Leader from 2013 to 2014. He served in the Alaska House of Representatives from 1986 through 1992.

Ellis passed away on February 10, 2022.^[1]

Ellis earned his B.A. from Claremont McKenna College in 1982.

Ellis won re-election in the 2012 election for Alaska State Senate District 9 (I). He ran unopposed in the August 28, 2012 Democratic primary and defeated Paul Kendall (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.^[6][7][8]
