Karen E. Scott is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Central District of California. She began her service on the court on July 28, 2015, and her current term expired on July 27, 2023.[1][2]
Education
Judge Scott earned her bachelor's degree from Stanford University and her J.D. from Stanford Law School.[1]
Career
Prior to her service as a magistrate judge, Scott was a partner at Rutan & Tucker LLP, "where she concentrated her practice on complex civil litigation in both Rutan’s Business Litigation and Government and Regulatory Law Sections. Her case load included defending class actions alleging violations of California’s Unfair Competition Law and other consumer protection statutes, inverse condemnation actions and title insurance disputes."[1]
