Kay Bates was a civil court judge of the 19th Judicial District, Division M in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana. She was first elected to this position on September 21, 1996. In August 2014, Bates announced that she would not seek re-election in 2014 and she retired from the court at the end of her term on December 31, 2014.[1][2][3][4]
Education
Bates earned her J.D. in 1979.[5]
Career
Bates practiced civil and criminal law for thirty-three years before becoming a district court judge in 1996.[5]
