Gerald received her J.D. degree from St. John's University School of Law.[1][2]

Career

Prior to her judicial career, Gerald served as a principal law clerk to New York Appellate Justice Alfred Lerner (of the 1st Department). She began her judicial career in December of 2001 when she was appointed an Interim Judge of the New York City Civil Court. She was reappointed as a permanent Civil Court judge in January 2002. In December of 2003, she was appointed to the Criminal Court. She then briefly served as a Supreme Court Justice in 2007 before returning to the Criminal Court in 2008. She was also appointed an Interim Civil Court judge in September of 2008.[1][2]
