Margo Brodie, nee Margo Kitsy Williams, is the chief judge with the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. She joined the court in 2012 after a nomination from Barack Obama. At the time of nomination, Brodie was an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of New York, a position she had held since 1999.[1] Brodie became chief judge in 2021.[2]

Education

Born in St. John`s, Antigua, Brodie earned her B.A. from St. Francis College in 1988. She went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania School of Law to earn her J.D. three years later.[1]

Professional career

After law school, Brodie served as the assistant corporation counsel for the New York City Law Department for three years. She then entered private practice in New York City from 1994 to 1999. She joined the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York in 1999 and served until her confirmation to the federal court.[1]
