Campaign themes

2014

Heath's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[4]

Pension Reform

  • Excerpt: "We the people must step up for future generations, tackle this head on and demand that local governments and voters have the power to curb any future liabilities. We can solve this by keeping the promises made to current retirees while negotiating new public pensions for new employees and future work days."

Jobs

  • Excerpt: "Everyone of us would benefit from a more competitive economic climate in California; especially the unemployed! It is time to lower taxes and reduce the regulatory arm of Sacramento."

Education

  • Excerpt: "On my first day in office, I will begin drafting legislation that would do just that; empower local school boards and parents with the decisions of educating our future generations and demand that government experiments like Common Core be first approved by the voters of local school districts before implementation."

Local Control

  • Excerpt: "A priority of mine will be to return as much decision making as possible to local control."

Transparency

  • Excerpt: "I pledge to be the most transparent legislative member in Sacramento. Every vote I take will be based upon its Constitutional merits. I will publicly explain the reasoning behind every vote I take and I will hold monthly town hall meetings in every county in the district."
