On January 14, 2010, Judge Chesney dismissed a lawsuit filed by a female sheriff's deputy of San Mateao County over claims she was sexually harassed on the job.[2] The judge found there was not enough evidence to substantiate the deputy's claim and that if it went to a trial that a jury would potentially not rule in her favor.[2] The case was affirmed by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.[3]
