Oscar Davis
Oscar Hirsh Davis was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the United States Court of Claims. He was reassigned to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit by the Federal Courts Improvement Act of 1982.[1]
Education
Davis earned his AB from Harvard University in 1934. He went on to receive his LLB from Columbia Law School in 1937.[2]
Professional career
Davis worked in private practice in New York City from 1937 to 1939. He then worked as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice, Claims Division, from 1939 to 1942. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Captain from 1942 to 1946. From 1946 to 1948 he worked as an attorney for the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. He then worked as assistant to the U.S. Solicitor General from 1950 to 1962.[2]
Federal judicial service
Davis was nominated to the U.S. Court of Claims by President John F. Kennedy, and received his commission on April 12, 1962. He served the Court of Claims until it was dissolved in 1982, when he was reassigned to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on October 1, 1982. His service was terminated on June 19, 1988 due to his death.[3][2]
