Patricia D. Barksdale is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. She has served on that court since her appointment on November 1, 2013.[1][2][3]

On April 28, 2016, President Barack Obama nominated her to serve as an Article III federal judge on the same court.[4] On January 3, 2017, Barksdale's nomination was returned to President Obama at the sine die adjournment of the 114th Congress.[5]

President Obama nominated Barksdale to the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida on April 28, 2016, to serve as an Article III federal judge. Obama stated, regarding Barksdale and seven other nominees, "Throughout their careers, these nominees have displayed unwavering commitment to justice and integrity ... Their records are distinguished and impressive, and I am confident that they will serve the American people well from the United States District Court bench. I am honored to nominate them today."[4]

The American Bar Association rated Barksdale Unanimously Well Qualified for the nomination.[6]

On January 3, 2017, Barksdale's nomination was returned to President Obama at the sine die adjournment of the 114th Congress.[5]

Education

Barksdale earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in 1993. She earned her J.D., Order of the Coif with high honors, from the University of Florida's Levin College of Law in 1996.[4]
