Rahkel Bouchet is a magistrate judge for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Then-Chief Judge Lee Satterfield appointed Bouchet to the court January 4, 2016.[1]
On March 21, 2024, President Joe Biden (D) nominated Bouchet to the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Bouchet's nomination was returned to the president at the sine die adjournment of the U.S. Senate on January 3, 2025. She was not renominated.[2]Cite error: Closing </ref>

On September 9, 2019, President Donald Trump (R) nominated Bouchet to a 15-year term on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia as an associate judge.[3] Bouchet's nomination was returned to the president at the sine die adjournment of the U.S. Senate on January 3, 2021. The president renominated Bouchet on January 3.[4] Bouchet's nomination was withdrawn on February 4, 2021.[5]

On September 6, 2019, President Donald Trump (R) announced his intent to nominate Bouchet to a 15-year term on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia as an associate judge.[8] The nomination was officially submitted September 9, 2019.[3]
Nomination
Bouchet was nominated to succeed Judge John Ramsey Johnson, who retired May 17, 2019.[9] Bouchet's nomination was returned to the president at the sine die adjournment of the U.S. Senate on January 3, 2021.[10] The president renominated Bouchet on January 3.[4] Bouchet's nomination was withdrawn on February 4, 2021.[11]

Bouchet became a magistrate judge for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia in 2016. She was appointed by Chief Judge Lee Satterfield on January 4.[1]
Education
Bouchet received a B.A. in legal communications, cum laude, from Howard University in 1993. She obtained a J.D. from Howard University School of Law in 1997. While at Howard Law, Bouchet was a founding member of the trial advocacy moot court team.[1]

The Superior Court of the District of Columbia is a trial court of general jurisdiction in Washington, D.C. Established by the U.S. Congress in 1970, the Superior Court exercises a local jurisdiction over the District of Columbia.[12]
