Early life and education
A native of Texarkana, Texas, Schroeder earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1989 and his J.D. from American University's Washington College of Law in 1994.[1]

Schroeder was nominated by President Barack Obama on June 26, 2014, to a seat on the [United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas]] vacated by David Folsom. The American Bar Association rated Schroeder Unanimously Well Qualified for the nomination.[2] Hearings on Schroeder's nomination were held before the Senate Judiciary Committee on September 9, 2014, and his nomination was reported by U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) on November 20, 2014. Schroeder was confirmed on a voice vote of the U.S. Senate on December 16, 2014, and he received his commission on December 19, 2014.[1][3]
