Robert Wodrow Archbald (1848-1926) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit, the United States Commerce Court, and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Judicial career

Third Circuit and Commerce Court

Archbald was nominated by President William Howard Taft on December 12, 1910 to a new seat authorized by 36 Stat. 539. He was confirmed by the Senate on January 31, 1911, and received commission that same day. He was impeached and convicted on January 13, 1913.[1]

Middle District of Pennsylvania

Archbald received a recess appointment from President William McKinley on March 29, 1901 and was nominated on December 5th to a new seat authorized by 31 Stat. 880. He was confirmed by the Senate on December 17, 1901, and received commission that same day. He served on this court until February 1, 1911. Archbald was succeeded in this position by Charles Witmer.
