Roger L. Hunt is an Article III federal judge serving on senior status for the United States District Court for the District of Nevada. He joined the court in 2000 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton. Hunt was the chief judge of the court from 2007 to 2011. He was serving in this position when he assumed senior status.[1]
Education
Hunt graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, with his bachelor's degree in 1966, and graduated from George Washington University Law School with his J.D. in 1970.[1]
Professional career
Clark began his legal career as a deputy district attorney in the Clark County District Attorney's Office from 1970 to 1971 before spending the rest of his legal career as a private practice attorney licensed in the State of Nevada from 1971 to 1992.[1]
Judicial career

On the recommendation of Nevada U.S. Senators Harry Reid and Richard Bryan, Hunt was nominated by President Bill Clinton on March 27, 2000, to a new seat created by 113 Stat. 1501. Hunt was confirmed by the Senate on May 24, 2000, and received commission on May 25, 2000.[2] He assumed senior status on May 26, 2011. Hunt was succeeded in this position by Judge Miranda Du.
Magistrate, District of Nevada
Hunt began his federal judicial career in 1992, when he was appointed to a full eight-year term as a federal magistrate judge in the United States District Court for the District of Nevada.
