Stephen J. Lynch is a former New York Court of Claims judge. He was appointed to the court in 2012 by Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D).[1] He left office in 2021 when he became a judge of the New York Supreme Court 10th Judicial District for Suffolk County.[2]

Education

Lynch earned his B.A. from Fordham University in 1973. He received his J.D. from St. John's University in 1978.[1]

Career

Lynch began his legal career in 1978 as an attorney with the law firm Colleran O'Hara Kennedy Lilly & Dunne. In 1981 he became a partner in the firm Robinson & Lynch. He was an attorney with the firm Marino Bernstein & LaMarca from 1991 until 1995 when he became Justice Robert A. Lifson's principal law clerk first in the Suffolk County Supreme Court - Central Islip and later in the Appellate Division, Second Department in Brooklyn. Lynch clerked for Justice Lifson until 2007. From 2008 to 2012, Lynch was Suffolk County Supreme Court Justice William B. Rebolini's principal law clerk.[1]

Elections

2010

Lynch ran as a Democrat. He was defeated by incumbent Henry Scudder in the general election.[3][4]
