Smith (Republican Party) won re-election for the Place 3 judge of the Texas Tenth District Court of Appeals outright after the general election on November 8, 2022, was canceled.

Gov. Greg Abbott (R) appointed Smith to the court of appeals on August 6, 2021, to succeed John Neill, who retired in May of that year.[1]
