William Joshua Allen (1829-1901) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.
He received a recess appointment from President Grover Cleveland on April 18, 1887 and was nominated on December 20th. He was confirmed by the Senate on January 19, 1888, and received commission that same day. He served until his death on January 26, 1901.[1]
