DUNDEE HOUSE /HALLEY’S HACKLE WORKS
1911, by Harry Thomson, extended 1914. 4-storey with Diocletian windows. This works made pins for textile machinery, then stored ink and paper
for newspaper printing, and is now Dundee City Council HQ, by Reiach and Hall, completed 2011. There is a striking glass addition to the roof and
radial rear extensions.

Dundee House by Reaich & Hall Architects (incorporating a former factory, latterly printworks) opened 2011 as replacement Dundee Council offices following the demolition of Tay House, cleared as part of the Dundee City Waterfront masterplan.
The new council offices have been photographed as a general record upgrade.

Desk Based Assessment
NO 3998 3021 (centred on) The site was extensively quarried during the first half of the 19th century, with only a strip of ground along South Ward Road possibly remaining untouched. The frontage on North Lindsay Street and South Ward Road is occupied by a B-listed building. This was constructed in 1909–15 as a factory for Halley Brothers and later occupied by DC Thomson’s print works.
