Dave Brubeck (1920–2012), designated a “Living Legend" by The Library of Congress, was one of the most active and popular musicians in both the jazz and classical worlds.
Dave’s career spanned over six decades, and his experiments in odd time signatures, improvised counterpoint, polyrhythm and polytonality remain hallmarks of innovation.

Studio albums for Columbia Records with the “Classic” quartet provide the core of Brubeck repertory material and secure his place in jazz history. This is music that my brothers and I and many others play, but Dave loved his “live” recordings. These he actually listened to with enjoyment. He was proud of his studio albums too but when they were done, he was done with them. Let’s consider the difference.
The Brubeck Collection at Wilton Library (Wilton, CT), has announced the launch of its enhanced and interactive digital archive, making the 22,000+ item collection catalog easily searchable and browsable online for the first time to everyone worldwide. This new digital archive also includes more than a thousand digitized photos, recordings, scores, and documents.
A new multi-year collaborative project – “The Voice of Brubeck “ – had been launched to celebrate, promote, and preserve Dave Brubeck’s symphonic, chamber, and sacred vocal music. Paul English will collaborate with Chris and Dan Brubeck to produce some of the very first arrangements of Dave Brubeck’s sacred vocal works and some new ones of his jazz masterpieces.
