Roman Sionis was Black Mask, a powerful, narcissistic, and moody Gotham City mob boss and leader of the False Face Society. He was an enemy of Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey, and was a major player in the hunt for the Bertinelli Diamond.

• This version of the character is exclusive to the continuity of the film Birds of Prey and is an adaptation of Black Mask. The original character was created by Doug Moench and Tom Mandrake and first appeared in Batman #386.
• Roman Sionis/Black Mask was portrayed by Ewan McGregor.
• When asked by a reporter if Black Mask and Zsasz were gay, Sionis' actor Ewan McGregor responded: "There's a want and a need in there, for sure [...] More than likely, yes."
  However, Birds of Prey director Cathy Yan later clarified her own intention for the character in an interview that their relationship was "much more about power than it is about anything that can be labeled either way". ^[1]
