Notes
- Barry Allen's story continues from the Arrow episode, "Three Ghosts".
- The extended prologue takes place on December 11th, 2013, just after Barry left Starling City in "Three Ghosts"; the rest of the episode takes place on October 7th, 2014, around the events of Arrow episode, "The Calm".
- The real circumstances behind Nora Allen's murder will only be revealed in the Season 9 episode, "A New World, Part One".
- 2018 Barry will travel back in time to the night of the Particle Accelerator Explosion and witness this event in "What's Past Is Prologue".
- Although it is not revealed until Season 5, the newspaper from 2024 hail from the original version of Nora West-Allen's future where the Flash died during the original version of the Crisis.
Trivia
- The incident that gives Barry Allen his powers mirrors the events of Showcase #4, which marked the first appearance of The Flash/Barry Allen in the Pre-Crisis continuity, including the Speed Force-powered lightning falling from the sky and the chemicals that hit Barry during the incident.
- Oliver Queen states he believes that "the lightning chose Barry" which foreshadows the revelation about the Speed Force.
- A sign on a broken cell at S.T.A.R. Labs says "Grodd". It is a certain reference to Flash villain, Gorilla Grodd, who will eventually make his first appearance in "Plastique".
- When he's testing out his powers, Barry passes a truck for Gambi Cleaners which is a reference to Paul Gambi, the tailor of the Flash villains, the Rogues, in the comics.
- Henry Allen being questioned by the 52nd precint is a refernce to The New 52.
- Both the newspaper articles (such as "DOCTOR ACCUSED OF KILLING WIFE" and "NORA ALLEN MURDERED BY HUSBAND") that appear in the Crime Lab and the article from the future newspaper are written by Evan Gibson.
