As a result of the New 52 in 2011, the entire line of DC characters was relaunched, incorporating properties belonging to the company's imprints: Wildstorm, Milestone, and Vertigo. As such, elements of this character's history have been altered in some way from the previous incarnation. For a complete list of all versions of this character, see our disambiguation page.

Starro is an alien conqueror who uses spores to force people into obedience.

Death

Sometime before the events of Metal, Starro faced off against Mister Terrific and was apparently killed by him. But according to Starro, he had psyched him out and regrew himself from a piece of his Tentaclaw. From that incident Starro gained the ability to no longer need his 'psychic face-spores' to control minds, now only needing his will and his giant eyeball.

Dark Nights: Metal

Starro was active on Thanagar Prime during the invasion of the Dark Multiverse, where heroes Mister Terrific and Green Lantern came looking for more Nth Metal to defeat the Dark Knights. Starro worked with Onimar Synn and helped imprison the Justice Leaguers on Thanager Prime, until they escaped with help from Martian Manhunter and defeated Starro and Onimar.
